Due to the ever changing landscape of COVID-19, now with the Delta Variant, Kirby School District is looking into offering virtual classes for both the elementary and high school. This is for data purposes to plan our upcoming school year.
Kirby Elementary School is looking into a couple options for our virtual learning program. One option will consist of homegrown virtual learning through the use of Google Classroom using digital programs such as Lexia Reading, Mathseeds, Moby Max, Study Island, Heggerty Phonics, Studies Weekly, and Writing City. Another option will include using our education cooperative, Dawson Coop as the entity to conduct virtual learning. Dawson Coop will use Edgenuity as their online virtual learning program. There will be a virtual learning teacher that will zoom with K-2 students daily and three times a week for grades 3-6. Information regarding Edgenuity can be found at:
Kirby High School currently will use APEX Learning as their virtual learning program. Students will have up to seven classes within their online account. Students will sign in, complete assignments, and take quizzes/tests. Grades will reflect the amount of work completed. Kirby High School will have an APEX Learning Facilitator overseeing all APEX classes and students. Information regarding APEX learning and classes can be found at:
Please complete the survey if you are considering enrolling your student into Kirby Virtual Academy or will be sending your student to school traditionally. Please research the virtual learning programs provided in the building that your child will be attending before submitting the survey.
Please note that online virtual learning will look a lot different than last year. If your child enters Kirby Virtual Academy, they will be required to remain in the program for at least the nine weeks or quarter. There will be no switching back and forth. If the student enters mid quarter they will be required to finish that quarter and the next. All applicants must also have a reliable internet connection.
