REMINDER!!
In an effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus within our staff and student body we are asking all parents/guardians, of students who will be in attendance on-site, and all employees to notify our designated Point of Contact immediately when the following occurs:
•Someone in the household has tested positive for COVID-19.
•Someone in the household has been identified as a Close Contact to a positive case of COVID-19 and is requiring quarantine and/or recommended to be tested for COVID-19.
•Student attending on-site and employees who are being tested for COVID-19. If symptomatic, student/staff should remain in quarantine pending results of their COVID-19 test.
Please call Kirby school nurse/POC Alissa Kelley at 870-223-2711, 7 days a week or email information to alissa.kelley@kirbytrojans.net.
1. Individuals who have previously tested positive for COVID-19 and recovered within 90 days do not have to quarantine, as long as they do not develop new symptoms.
2. Individuals exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19 will not need to quarantine if the exposed individual has no symptoms and both the infected and exposed individual consistently and correctly were wearing a mask.
3. Individuals who are fully vaccinated will not have to quarantine, provided they do not have symptoms. School nurses can help verify the vaccination status of a potential close contact through WebIZ to help POCs and school officials determine responses. Parents and students should not be required to provide documentation of vaccination status if nurses are unable to verify through WEBIZ.
Quarantine of those exposed to someone with COVID-19
As of December 2, 2020, the CDC amended its guidance to allow two shorter options for the
quarantine period. Based on current CDC guidance, the quarantine period can end for
individuals experiencing no symptoms according to the following guidelines:
1. After 10 full 24-hour periods since close contact exposure without testing, or
2. After seven full 24-hour periods since close contact exposure and after receiving a
negative test result (sample taken no earlier than five 24-hour periods after exposure).
Please contact me at the school during school hours at 870-398-4211, my cell phone at 870-223-2711 7 days a week or my email at alissa.kelley@kirbytrojans.net if you have any questions.

Reminder: For afternoon car line pick-up, please enter at the ball field, pick up students in front of the elementary building, and exit the front gate. Please remain in vehicle as students are picked up. Please pull up and over in front of the old elementary building if your child needs help buckling up. This helps the car line run more smoothly. Thank you!

A huge Thank You to APN Heather Funderburk of CHI in Glenwood for coming to Kirby High School today and doing athletic physicals! We appreciate you very much! Heather will also be on campus one day a week this year for our school based health clinic. Right now she will be there on Tuesdays from 1-4:30. We will still be doing telemedicine visits and the health clinic will run just like last year. It is a great thing!
I have had a wonderful summer and it was great to see students today. Looking forward to the 21-22 school year! ~ Nurse Alissa

Act 1002 of 2021 went into effect on July 28, 2021 which prohibited schools and school boards from implementing a mask mandate policy. Governor Hutchinson called a special legislative session last week to try and overturn the exemption that would allow school districts to enforce a mask mandate policy. The special session ended with no changes to Act 1002 of 2021.
Immediately after the special session ended, Judge Tim Fox, Pulaski County Circuit Judge granted a temporary order blocking the state from enforcing the state mask mandate ban. The ruling is expected to be appealed in the Arkansas Supreme Court.
Due to the highly volatile situation, Kirby School District will be highly recommending wearing face masks for all staff, students, visitors, etc but this will remain optional for all. We will continue to closely monitor the legal proceedings and COVID data for our community for reconsideration of the mask mandate.

On September 14, 2021, Kirby School District will be asking for your help in passing a 5 millage increase to help our district fund new and exciting projects. We want our community members to be informed on all aspects of these projects. We will be holding two public meetings on August 12, 2021 in the cafeteria at 4:00pm and 6:00pm to discuss our plans and to answer your questions.

Sub training!

Kirby Athletic Physicals will be Tuesday, August 10th at the high school. Any student who plans to play any sport (basketball, softball, golf, cheerleading, baseball) during the 2021-2022 school year must have a physical complete and turned into the school nurse by the beginning of the school year. These are FREE! These will be done by APRN Heather Funderburk of Glenwood CHI Clinic. JR High teams will be first starting at 1:00. SR High will start at 2:00. If you have any questions, please contact me anytime! This is for high school sports only. Thank you!! ~ Nurse Alissa
