Kirby School District will be sending out our re-entry plan for the 2020-2021 school year next week via social media and we will also be sending out in the mail a pamphlet detailing our plan . Today, the Governor and Commissioner of Education pushed the school start date back to August 24-26. School Districts were given an option when to start between August 24 and no later than August 26. Kirby School District will now start back to school August 24. Please be on the lookout next week for our re-entry plan.

APN Heather Funderburk from CHI St Vincent in Glenwood will be at Kirby High School Tuesday, August 4th for sports physicals. Physicals are required for any sport played during the 2020-2021 school year for grades 7-12. These physicals are free of charge. Jr high will start at 1:30 and Sr high at 2:30. Due to Covid 19, there will be guidelines in place.
Every student has to wear a mask inside the school building and keep it on until you see Heather and are out of the building. There will be a table set up outside the triple doors with forms that you will fill out before you come inside. I will be outside to answer any questions and take your temperature before you enter the building. Markers down the hall will be taped off where you will stand and wait to go into my office. No one but the student will be allowed inside the building unless approved. Once you have the form filled out, I will direct you to either enter the building or wait in your car for your turn. I hope to be as organized as possible to make things run as smooth as they can. If you have any questions or concerns, please message me or call me at 870-223-2711. Thanks. Nurse Alissa

REMINDER:
If you still have one of our Chromebook Devices in your possession, please return them as soon as possible. We are in the office Monday-Thursday 8:00am to 2:00pm. Thank you!

Reminder: If you are going into 9-12th grade and want to take college courses, you MUST have the required ACT scores. If you don't, you can take the Accuplacer at Cossatot before school starts.

The July 18 ACT at Kirby has been cancelled due to an increase in COVID 19. This decision was made by the National Testing Center, not our district. Please check your email. After July 27, you can change your registration to September at Kirby.

Kirby PTCO would like to say Thank You to Diamond Bank of Glenwood for their $510.23 donation to our campus food pantry.
Along with this donation, we have also received several donations from individuals these past several months in which we are very grateful for. We have been fortunate since we started our food pantry to run it all year long and summer months.

Any student who wants to take concurrent classes this fall will need to have qualifying scores on the ACT, ACT Aspire, or Accuplacer. If you do not have a qualifying score on the ACT or ACT Aspire, students will have to go to UA Cossatot to take the Accuplacer test. Beginning next week, UA Cossatot will allow students to set up an appointment for placement tests in the De Queen or Nashville testing centers. Some important information is below:
Students MUST set up an appointment. Only 1 student will be allowed to test at a time.
Students can email testingcenters@cccua.edu to schedule their time.
Students will not be allowed to test for 30 days once they have tested due to the limited amount of testing we can perform at this time.
Students will be required to wear a mask and use hand sanitizer before and after testing.
If you have any questions please contact Brandi Tolleson at brandi.tolleson@kirbytrojans.net. Here is a list of qualifying scores on the Accuplacer test.
Students must have a concurrent form filled out with Mrs. Tolleson prior to registering for testing.

From Mrs.Tolleson:
Attention 9-12 grade students that have a textbook for your college class:
Please return your textbooks to school by Monday, May 18. Some of those are rented and need returned. You can leave them in the filing cabinet on the porch or return them to the superintendent's office. Write your name inside the cover so I know who returned them. Thanks!
