
This morning, the sixth-grade class was delighted to have a visitor. Mrs. Launa Simmons read from her own published book and discussed the importance of kindness.




Kirby School District is on a 2 hr delay today. School will start at 10:00am this morning. Bus routes, highways, and many of the rural roads in our district have been inspected by our SRO and Transportation Director. School delays and cancellation decisions regarding inclement weather are tough sometimes, but Kirby School District always has the safety of our staff and students at heart. Thank you for understanding and look forward to seeing everyone at school today.

Kirby School District plans to operate a 2 hr delay tomorrow, February 19th in order to get a better understanding of the road conditions. As of this moment, school will start at 10:00am tomorrow morning. If anything changes after evaluating the roads in the morning, we will make an announcement as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding in this time of uncertainty regarding the weather conditions.

Students read the three Billy goats gruff, discussed the elements of a fairy tale, and built a boat to get the goats across the river in Ms. Baylee Kitchen's 4th grade class.





3rd Grade had a visitor for KINDNESS Week! Dr. Mandi Ott read Stellaluna, a heartwarming story about the importance of kindness and compassion towards others.



Mrs. Whitehead’s 4th grade math classes had fun learning about 2D and 3D geometric shapes by making models from marshmallows and toothpicks.




This week the elementary library is celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week by painting "Kindness Stones" ....a little messy, but so much fun!







STEAM Monday: Third Graders demonstrated the water cycle using plastic bags.

Kirby School District will have an early release at 1:00 on Tuesday, Feb 18th. We will be watching the weather reports and radar overnight and if anything changes, we will let everyone know as soon as possible.

As winter weather approaches, we will continue to monitor the latest forecasts this evening for the most accurate timing of the system. Mrs. Wright's class investigated whether goop behaves more like a solid or a liquid.










For STEM Monday, Mrs. Lewis' Kindergarten Class explored the concept of water density and learned why some objects sink while others float. The students made predictions and then documented their findings through observations.

The Junior Boys are in the 1A-7 District Tournament Finals tonight!! They take on the Mount Ida Lions!! Tip off is 7:15 at Mount Ida High School!! Make plans to come out and cheer them on!!
