Valentine’s Day is coming up, and we’re excited to celebrate a fun day of kindness and friendship with our students! To help the day run smoothly, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

Kirby School District will be implementing a 2 hr delay on Monday, February 2. School will start at 10:00 am. If your child is a bus rider, add 2 hrs to the time they would have normally been picked up by their bus. There are a few icy places on campus so please be cautious and take your time when dropping off your children or driving onto campus (ballfields, teacher parking lot, driveway between old gym and new gym). We understand there maybe some areas of concern still with icy driveways, backroads, etc. If your child is unable to make it to school safely, they will be excused. Please let Mrs. Lisa Miller or Mrs. Kristina Reid know tomorrow morning. We appreciate your understanding in helping us as we continue to deal with the winter weather aftermath. We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus.
Our Kirby family is wearing PURPLE on Monday to show love and support for Hudson Simmons and his family during this difficult time.
Hudson has strong Kirby roots, and our hearts are with him and those who love him.
Let’s fill the halls with purple as a sign of encouragement, strength, and community for this brave boy and his family. 💜

Today, our 2nd and 3rd graders enjoyed a special presentation from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission on ATV Safety, Gun Safety, and Tree Stand Safety.
Students learned:
• 🚜 How to stay safe while riding ATVs
• 🎯 The importance of proper gun safety and awareness
• 🌳 How to use and navigate tree stands responsibly
We are grateful to AGFC for taking the time to teach our students real‑world safety skills that help keep them informed, confident, and prepared.

The Kirby Youth Association (KYA) is now registering players for Baseball, Softball, and T‑Ball!
If your child wants to learn the game, build confidence, make friends, and have a blast this spring, now’s the time to get them signed up. KYA offers a fun, supportive environment for all skill levels.
📅 Registration Deadline: January 23
⚾ Sports Offered: Baseball, Softball, T‑Ball
📍 Hosted by: Kirby Youth Association
Let’s fill those teams and make this a great season for our kids. Spread the word and get those sign‑ups in!

Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Kirby archers traveled to Glen Rose for their very first archery tournament, and they represented our school with confidence and pride. Several spectators commented that our students looked prepared, focused, and experienced — like they’d been doing this for years.
A huge shoutout to Grant Funderburk for an outstanding performance:
• 🥇 5th out of 45 in the 6th Grade Boys Division
• 🥈 21st out of 101 in the Middle School Boys Division
• 🥉 66th out of 293 overall in the Boys Division
• 🎯 Score: 258 out of 300
We are incredibly proud of all our archers for their hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Kirby Elementary School has been awarded a $7,000 Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife Education Grant through the Arkansas Economic Development Commission! We are incredibly grateful for this support and excited to bring even more hands‑on, outdoor learning opportunities to our students.
This grant will allow us to strengthen and expand our wildlife education initiatives, including:
• 🐾 Enhancing outdoor learning spaces
• 🎣 Supporting conservation and wildlife‑focused classroom projects
• 🌱 Providing materials for nature-based activities and student exploration
• 🦉 Creating more opportunities for students to engage with Arkansas’s natural resources
• 🎯 Purchasing additional equipment to expand our school archery program, giving more students the chance to learn archery skills, safety, and discipline
These experiences help our students build confidence, responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors.
Thank you to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Division of Rural Services for investing in our kids and our school. We can’t wait to share updates as these projects come to life!
